โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Separate and Identify Slide Components

Depress the plastic release levers on the inner slide profiles to disconnect the drawer members from the cabinet members. Group matching left and right tracks together and mark them clearly with masking tape. Identify the front mounting tabs versus rear stops on both sets.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Separated inner and outer slide tracks laid out in pairs beside the cabinet.
  • โ€ข Release levers visible and unbroken on the inner tracks.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Forcing slide tracks apart without depressing the disconnect lever.
  • โ€ข Mixing up left and right drawer tracks.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Slide tracks have sharp stamped-metal edges; handle the rails by their flat faces.
2

Mark and Set Slide Reference Lines

Use a combination square to scribe level reference lines on the interior cabinet walls where the slides will sit. Measure up from the cabinet floor or use cut-to-length scrap spacer blocks clamped inside to establish identical heights on both sides. Set the front edge of each slide set back 1/16 to 1/8 inch from the front face of the cabinet frame.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Clear horizontal pencil reference lines scribed identically on left and right internal cabinet walls.
  • โ€ข Spacer blocks resting flat and clamped tightly against the cabinet base.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Measuring from the top rail instead of the bottom, introducing error if opening is out-of-square.
  • โ€ข Mounting slides flush to the exterior frame face instead of providing the required setback.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Clamp spacer blocks firmly so they do not slip while you manipulate heavy cabinet tracks.
3

Mount Cabinet Slide Members

Rest the cabinet-side slide track directly on your spacer block aligned with the front setback line. Use a self-centering bit to drill pilot holes through the elongated mounting slots, then drive panhead screws into the front and rear mounting holes. Verify the track is level and parallel to the cabinet sidewall before tightening completely.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Cabinet slide rails sitting parallel and flush against the interior carcass panels.
  • โ€ข Screws seated cleanly in the centers of the elongated adjustment slots.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Using countersunk flathead screws instead of panhead screws, which pull tracks off-center.
  • โ€ข Drilling off-center pilot holes without a self-centering guide.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Set drill clutch to medium torque to prevent stripping the pilot holes in soft plywood or MDF.
4

Attach Slide Members to Drawer Box

Mark the center or bottom reference line along the outside sidewall of the drawer box according to slide specifications. Align the drawer-side member with this line, setting the front face flush with the drawer box front edge (behind false front). Drill centered pilot holes and fasten the drawer member with low-profile screws.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Drawer slide members sitting perfectly parallel to the bottom edges of the drawer box.
  • โ€ข Mounting screws fully seated flush inside the slide rail channel.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Attaching the slide upside down so the release mechanism points the wrong way.
  • โ€ข Overhanging the metal track past the front face of the drawer box.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Support the drawer box on a stable bench so it does not tip while driving screws into the side.
5

Engage and Test Drawer Action

Extend both cabinet slide rails forward, then align the drawer box tracks with the ball cages on both sides. Push the drawer in firmly and evenly until the release levers click and engage, then push completely closed. Slide the drawer open and closed several times to feel for friction, racking, or binding.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Audible click as both left and right release tabs lock into position.
  • โ€ข Drawer sliding smoothly with uniform 1/2-inch side gaps on both sides.
  • โ€ข Drawer face resting square against the cabinet frame.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Forcing an uneven drawer closed when only one side has entered the ball cage.
  • โ€ข Ignoring rubbing resistance during the initial test push.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Do not place fingers between the drawer box and cabinet face frame while pushing the drawer closed.
6

Adjust Alignment and Set Lock Screws

Inspect drawer reveal gaps and horizontal level; if misaligned, loosen the slot screws slightly to adjust vertical or horizontal positioning. Once the drawer operates smoothly and sits square in the opening, drive additional locking screws through the round non-slotted holes on all tracks.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Uniform gaps surrounding the drawer front on all four sides.
  • โ€ข Additional locking screws driven into the round permanent holes of both cabinet and drawer tracks.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Skipping permanent locking screws, which allows slides to loosen and drift over time.
  • โ€ข Overtightening adjustment screws before final alignment is confirmed.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure power tools are set down safely and tracks are fully fastened before loading weights into drawers.
