π Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Cut and Assemble the Outer Cabinet Box
Rip the 3/4-inch plywood into side panels, top header, and rear anchoring cleats according to your hardware kit dimensions. Join the top panel between the two vertical sides using pocket screws and glue, checking squareness across opposite diagonals with a tape measure. Attach the upper and lower rear 2x4 stretchers flush against the back edge.

Construct the Inner Mattress Frame
Cut 3/4-inch plywood side rails and foot rail to form the inner mattress box. Reinforce the inner perimeter with 2x4 lumber running lengthwise to support mattress weight and distribute hinge loads. Join the frame corners with glue and counter-bored structural wood screws.

Mount the Pivot Plates and Gas Strut Brackets
Measure and mark the pivot mounting hole locations on the inside of the outer cabinet and outside of the mattress box using the hardware template. Drill pilot holes and bolt the heavy-duty pivot brackets firmly in place using machine bolts or heavy screws. Attach the fold-out leg mechanism to the foot of the inner bed frame.

Secure the Cabinet Rigidly to Wall Studs
Locate and mark wall studs behind the cabinet location using a stud finder. Push the empty outer cabinet tight against the wall and shim underneath until level and plumb. Drive at least four 3-inch structural lag screws through the upper cabinet cleat directly into solid wood studs.

Lower the bed flat and fasten decorative plywood panels with faux drawer trim to the front face to disguise it as a credenza. Verify smooth opening, balanced counterweight feel, and tight uniform perimeter gaps when closed.
